Dear Members and Supporters of Recent INTECOL Congresses:
The INTECOL Board have taken the decision that the Society should operate its day-to-day business and organise its membership electronically through its new web site (www.intecol.net). Professor Eun-Shik Kim of Kookmin University, Korea, was recently appointed by the Board to fill the vacancy of Secretary General following the resignation of Professor Almo Farina. Eun-Shik had already assumed the role of web master for us prior to his appointment as Secretary General, and he has been working very hard to get our new site up and running. It is now at the stage when we can begin to use it as the central way in which we communicate with our members and the ecological community at large.
To encourage our members to renew their membership electronically and to encourage other members of the scientific ecological community to join the Society, The Board of INTECOL has decided to offer free membership for 2004 and 2005 to all those who register electronically through the web site. I encourage all our members, supporters and other ecologists to help us re-launch the Society in this way. I very much hope that you will register your membership at the site, and I look forward to your helping www.intecol.net to become a major source of information and ideas for the ecological community at large.
