David Read, Professor Emeritus at the University of Sheffield, and Biological Secretary of the Royal Society was knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours Listed.  Sir David's researches on the ecology of mycorrhizas will be further recognised in September 2007 when he is appointed as an Honorary Member of the British Ecological Society at the Society's Annual Meeting in Glasgow.
